Ziggy - One year on
A dog with ambition
Just an update for you and your staff regarding Ziggy the Staffie.
We have had Ziggy for a year now and the whole family has built a routine around him. He is walked 8 to 10 miles a day by my son, daughter and myself. If I am not up by 6.45 he huffs under the bedroom door and yawns noisily.
Everybody he meets comments on how happy he is and Ziggy makes sure he meets everybody. None escape his greeting on his morning walk as he makes people late for work by walking between their legs and wagging his tail in circles like a helicopter.
Recently he slipped off the lead to chase a cat and the cat owner opened her door to find me doing the splits on her front lawn as I caught his lead. Not the best thing to see at 7.30 in the morning. Ziggy likes chasing cats, rabbits and squirrels but doesn't hurt them. Just last week he carried a baby bird in his mouth and dropped it gently into my hand after it had fallen out of it's nest.
The attached photo was taken 2 weeks ago. I love a dog with ambition.
He ALWAYS wants to play and his favourite toy at the moment is a talking ball. He shakes it to make it growl, bark, howl as well as shout "Don't do that!" or "You got me".
To be honest, I thought Ziggy was a little scarey when we first saw him. All he wanted to do was chase a ball and he didn't really care about a pat on the head or a stroke. Staffies are full-on and in your face but wow. when they trust you and you trust them the rewards are amazing. They love to please you, they are loyal, bright, loving and great company. When you talk to them they answer back as they have an amazing variety of sounds.
I may not have had a lie-in for a year but I have seen some glorious mornings, made more friends and allowed a lovely little dog to have a proper home and family.
Ziggy will be 2 in June and a doggy shop in Blue Water makes edible birthday cards.
What us spoil him? You bet we do.
Very best regards
Dave, Alison, Lyn & Chris Butler
