Oscar
(formerly Ringo)
My first day.
I was adopted from the RSPCA by Joyce, and my first day with her started on the 31st. July 2009. My new name is Oscar.
I travelled to my new home by car and cried all the way, although someone was trying to stroke my chin through the carrier.
On arrival I was allowed to leave the carrier in my own time to investigate my surroundings. Firstly I found a large window (lovely for watching the birds in the tree outside) and several toys scattered around. It did not take me long to find the food and I helped myself immediately. Everyone was making such a fuss of me.
When Joyce left the building the door of the room was shut so that I could not escape, and after her return in 5/10 minutes she could not find me. Although I was only hidden behind the settee she could not see me (being black) and I think I frightened her. This is where I go it I do not like any particular noises.
Joyce made such a fuss of me, and I jumped on her lap in the evening, turned on my back with my paws over my face, legs stretched out with my tail curled between them. I stayed like this for about 2 hours, having my tummy stroked. I think this pleased here.
At bedtime I was shown my new bed and the light was switched out. Where had Joyce gone? I soon found out and seeing the bed I jumped up and claimed my spot for the night. I needed company too!
…………………………………
A few weeks have now passed and I have settled into my new home. I can use the cat flap to go in and out as I please. There is plenty of space to run around in the garden and when I need a rest I go to sleep on the chair I have claimed as mine. Night times are spent on the bottom of Joyce’s bed. I get a lot of fuss made of me so I am very happy.
